VANITY

This fabulous exhibition shows that fashion is not just a superficial phenomenon but a mirror of society.

Vanity reflects the history of fashion photography, focusing on the 20th century.

On 20 December we took part in a guided tour in English, which was very detailed and informative. Our tour guide gave us a short introduction about fashion photography.

All in all, there were 200 works on display. The guide decided to discuss some famous examples of each decade giving historical and biographical background information about both photographers and models.

Furthermore, our guide showed us how to analyse the technical and artistic aspects of specific photos (use of colours, layout, light effects etc.).

Photographers we particularly liked were Horst P. Horst, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh and Kristian Schuller (see photo below).

We warmly recommend to visit the exhibition Vanity ( hurry! : ending on 12 February) , especially to students and teachers from the fashion department to take part in a guided tour.
