My beloved best friend von Cornelia Mandl
Her brown hair with a tinge of red
reaches nearly her slender shoulders,
while her mahogany eyes look at me
through her square glasses in a pleasant way.
Her roseate lips form a comforting smile,
while her laughter raises bright and gentle
as the wind waves through the leaves of a tree soft and quiet.
Her life’s like a feather
spontaneous and hovering into the clouds.
Her love to her childishness is highly visible.
It’s ordinary, usual.
Her love to her friends, her love to her sisters and her love to her tales.
But inside, her soul seems desperate.
For a moment, a glance in her eyes tells,
that in an instant, she is about to cry,
for her life isn’t what she is looking for.
She may fall to the ground,
unable to move, blind
without a sense of smell.
And she continues falling into a bottomless dark gap.
Even though she’s innocent and free like a bird,
able to choose, which way she can go.
Dressed in azure jeans and a violet top,
she jumps at my side,
and takes my left hand
with an amused gaze.
Her wings will carry her through her life
of deep sadness and facile happiness,
with hope for a desirable destiny.
