Speech Contest – „Sags multi“
We have moved on...
On 19th November 2014 the preliminary decision in the speech contest “Sags multi” was made. This was the first time that two students of the HLMW9’s branch in Maygasse 25, 1130 Vienna took part using the Austrian Sign Language.
Anja Burghard and Caroline Schöny, both attend the third form of the add-on course, represented our school in this event. Their task was to draft a speech on a topic of a set list. Both students chose the topic “We are all equal”. The speech had to be between three and four minutes. The students used their first language – German – as well as their foreign language – the Austrian Sign Language - during their speeches.
The jury consisted of a representative of each language used in the contest, so there was also a hearing-impaired Austrian Sign Language literate jury member present. For the students the contest meant a positive experience and a valuable preparation for their future professional life. Both hope they will reach the next round.
A total of 537 participants using 55 different languages from 119 Austrian schools took part in the contest.
